Toliver House Restaurant in Gordonsville & Lounge

Located right on evolving Main Street in a renovated 130-year old building (a former general store, residence, and restaurant).

Light green, mauve, and claret shades in the restaurant's three dining rooms. The wrap-around screened porch with elegant tables, ceiling fans, and stereophonic music. Hardwood floors, cherry-stained furniture, and lighting fixtures seal the deal, though history has been preserved in details like fireplaces and the foyer, which is still adorned with old photos of Gordonsville people and places.

The Toliver House menu is of the American regional style with a unique touch featuring appetizers: fried ginger-marinated calamari with a scallion cream sauce and a salad of romaine lettuce, gorgonzola cheese, toasted walnuts and grilled pear.

The entrée act stars an oven-roasted Virginia trout with grits and fried green tomatoes, pan-seared boneless duck breast with cranberry-orange glaze, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and vegetable of the day and grilled N.Y. strip steak with a spicy garlic-shallot compound butter.
